On May 1, 2020, IGE took part in an online consultation on Uzbekistan’s Religion Law, sponsored by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Center for Law & Religion Studies at Brigham Young University. The consultation was the first of its kind and the fruit of a religious freedom MOU signed between IGE and the Uzbekistan government and the first-ever Religion & Rule of Law training that IGE held in the country last November. For the online consultation, the Uzbek government invited international legal experts to provide feedback and recommendations on their Religion Law. The discussion addressed key topics such as registration and featured a lively and thoughtful discussion. The consultation was part of a Religious Freedom Roadmap that the Uzbekistan government has developed and is partnering with IGE to implement.
