Kristopher Tate

Board Member

Kristopher Tate is a lawyer specializing in corporate governance, securities law, and capital markets transactions. He currently serves as Managing Director at The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE:SCHW), a leading provider of financial services, where he leads the Office of Corporate Governance/Corporate Secretary. Prior to that, he was Deputy General Counsel at Santander Consumer USA (NYSE:SC), a full-service consumer finance company focused on vehicle finance and a majority-owned subsidiary of Banco Santander (NYSE:SAN). In these roles, he has advised boards of directors and senior management on corporate governance, public company matters and securities disclosure, executive compensation, and capital markets transactions and mergers and acquisitions. Before going in-house, he was also associated with large law firms in Texas and Oklahoma, including Andrews Kurth (now Hunton Andrews Kurth) and Hall Estill.

Kristopher is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma (B.A., with distinction, and J.D., cum laude), where he served as an Editor of the Oklahoma Law Review. During a gap-year before law school, he also served on mission to students at the Oklahoma Baptist Student Union.

Kristopher is blessed to be married to his beautiful and talented wife, Laney, and to have two wonderful children, Eliana and Hudson.

Throughout his career, Kristopher has volunteered on justice, religious liberty, conflict resolution, and rule of law initiatives, locally and internationally, including projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, and Haiti. He passionately believes in the eternal worth of every individual, and one of his life verses is Isaiah 43:4 (“Since you are precious in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life.”).
