ARLINGTON, VA │ February 24, 2020 –
The Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) is pleased to announce that Marji Hughes has been named as the new Board Chair. Hughes is the Interim CEO of Christian Community Credit Union, a full-service financial institution operated by Christian principles that seeks to build God’s Kingdom by partnering with individuals and ministries to help them manage their money in a God-honoring way. She has more than 40 years of operational and leadership experience in the financial services industry. She also has a wealth of governance leadership experience of several non-profit organizations in addition to community volunteer leadership. (Click here for Marji Hughes’ bio.)
IGE President & CEO John Boyd stated, “I am beyond grateful for our outgoing Board Chair John Creswell and his crucial role in stewarding IGE over the past four years; we are undoubtedly a stronger, more mission-focused organization due to his leadership. I very much look forward to continuing to work alongside Ms. Hughes in her new capacity. I am always in awe of the people that God brings to surround us as we seek to serve Him through our work.”
Hughes stated, “I hope to do my part, stewarding the Board of Directors, as we work to ensure that IGE can continue to be a strong voice in the religious freedom sphere as we convene multiple stakeholders to advocate for and catalyze freedom of faith from within the countries where IGE operates. I aim to see IGE’s influence grow and deepen.” Hughes joined the IGE Board of Directors in April 2019 prior to assuming this new role.
The Institute for Global Engagement catalyzes freedom of faith worldwide so that people can live what they believe. IGE has three main pillars to their approach: I. The teachings of Jesus: We believe, share and live what Jesus taught us—love, acceptance and reconciliation lived in a way that compels engagement and understanding for all. II. Religious Freedom: Committed to universal human dignity, we work for a future when all people, of any faith or no faith, have freedom of belief and equal citizenship. We spread the truth that religious freedom is integral to a flourishing society and a stable state. III. Relational Diplomacy: We overcome obstacles of culture and religion by creating and nurturing mutually beneficial relationships, inviting all viewpoints to the table, working together as partners for the common good.
