The government of Laos has awarded an official commendation to IGE’s Laos program officer Dr. Stephen Bailey for his work in peacebuilding and conflict transformation in the country. The commendation was presented by the director of the Department of Religious Affairs at the Lao Front for National Development, Mr. Khanonglith. In his remarks, he thanked Dr. Bailey for his “love for Laos and the many years of collaboration on religious work and peacebuilding.”

IGE has worked in Laos since the late-1990s and partners with both the government and religious communities to advance freedom of faith. Its programs convene stakeholders from the government and religious communities at the provincial and district levels to educate and equip them on religious freedom as a human right and Lao government policy on religious activity. The gatherings have served to strengthen dialogue between religious and government leaders.
