Berkley Center Symposium: “Proselytism and Religious Freedom in the 21st Century”
Proselytism and Religious Freedom in the 21st Century
On Wednesday March 3, 2010, Thomas Farr (Senior Fellow at Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and Contributing Editor on IGE’s journal, The Review of Faith & International Affairs) will moderate a Berkley Center symposium on “Proselytism and Religious Freedom in the 21st Century.” Proselytism has long been controversial and has generated heated debate both in the church and the academy. Indeed, IGE devoted its 2005-2006 Global Leadership Forum series to the theme of “Proselytism and Persecution,” and later published select papers from the series in a special theme issue of The Review of Faith & International Affairs. Prepare for the Georgetown symposium by reading free articles from this issue by R. Scott Appleby, Paul Freston, Lamin Sanneh, and other leading commentators on proselytism..
