On June 2, 2020, President Trump signed the “Executive Order on Advancing International Religious Freedom,” which prioritizes advancing international religious freedom as a key factor in U.S. foreign policy. IGE has long advocated for this and looks forward to the implementation of this order.

IGE’s Laos Program Officer Dr. Steve Bailey met with Lao government officials and religious leaders to review IGE’s work in the region. Dr. Bailey shared, “I feel encouraged by the collective efforts of our Lao government and religious leader counterparts to expand and protect religious freedom here.”

IGE stands as an active member and partner at the Ministerial because IGE believes that religious freedom matters for all people. IGE co-hosted two side-events alongside Christianity Today (CT) in order to describe more of why religious freedom matters in the domestic and global communities and how exactly IGE and others work to advance religious freedom.

From May 6 to 10 IGE and the Lao Front Department of Religious Affairs accompanied their Lao Peace Building Team to Hinboun District, Khammoune Province, Laos to conduct a five day peacebuilding workshop. 35 people from 11 different Lao government and religious organizations participated.
