Freedom of Religion or Belief as a Human Right
The summer 2022 issue of The Review of Faith & International Affairs is a theme issue entitled “Freedom of Religion or Belief as a Human Right.” Inspired by the 10 December 2020 open letter “Close to Our Hearts,” this special collection was convened and guest edited by Heiner Bielefeldt (UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief from 2010 to 2016), Thiago Alves Pinto (Oxford University), and Marie Juul Petersen (Danish Institute for Human Rights). Other contributors include Mariz Tadros, Saumya Uma, Erin K. Wilson, Susan Kerr, Jayeel Cornelio, Robbin Dagle, Elizabeth Reiner Platt, Emily Scolaro, and IGE Senior Fellow Knox Thames. Taken together, these articles strongly challenge false dichotomies pitting freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) against other human rights.
