Lao Government Signs Agreement with IGE to Hold Religious Freedom Seminars

Posted on

IGE and Laos' Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs signed an agreement to sponsor seminars focusing on three key areas:

  1. Religious freedom as a human right;
  2. Lao government policy on religious activity; and,
  3. Encouraging dialogue between religious and government leaders in outlying provinces.

Misunderstandings about religious freedom have been the norm in Laos, but IGE's programs have brought about greater mutual understanding and peace between religious and government leaders.

The photo above was taken from a seminar in Phongsaly Province, one of the most remote provinces in Laos. This was the first time that a seminar on religious freedom had taken place there.

IGE looks forward to working with Lao government and religious leaders in bringing these seminars to other parts of the country where they are most needed.
