David McMillan

Board Member since 2013

David McMillan is currently overseeing the transition of the International Baptist Theological Seminary (IBTS) as it relocates from Prague in the Czech Republic to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

David is from Northern Ireland where for 22 years he served as a Baptist pastor, firstly in Newry on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and later in Windsor Baptist, Belfast. Having a strong sense of the need for meaningful engagement in society while in pastoral ministry he became Vice Chair of the community regeneration organisation Newry and Mourne Co-operative. He was also a founder member and Chair of the Evangelical Contribution on Northern Ireland (ECONI) which sought to encourage the wider evangelical and protestant community to engage in the process of reconciliation in Northern Ireland.

Originally graduating with a BSc in Social Science his strong sense of vocation to ministry led him to theological training in Belfast. Some years later he completed an MPhil in Biblical Studies from the Queen's University, Belfast and is currently a PhD student with IBTS at the Free University Amsterdam.  David's interest is in exploring the use of the biblical text in situations of conflict and has published various articles and contributed book chapters on the theme.

David is married to Dorothy who lectures in Early Childhood Education. They have two daughters, two sons-in-law and two grandsons, all of whom live in Oxford, England.
