Research Associate

Evan Jensen is an undergraduate student at Occidental College pursuing a degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs, with an expected graduation in May 2028. Having received his formative education in Kathmandu, Nepal, Evan brings a global perspective to his academic and professional pursuits. Bridging his roots in Ida Grove, Iowa, with his international upbringing, he is deeply passionate about engaging with and fostering communication across diverse cultures and perspectives.

At Occidental, Evan is highly engaged in academic leadership and global programming. He serves as the President of the Diplomacy and World Affairs Major’s Association, where he leads professional development and networking initiatives. Additionally, he supports speaker events as a Programming Assistant for the Young Initiative on the Global Political Economy and manages communications and data as an International Programs Assistant. Driven by a commitment to inclusive community building and guided by his faith, Evan serves as Treasurer of the International Students’ Club and President of Occidental’s InterVarsity Christian Fellowship chapter.

Evan’s interests span the mechanics of great-power rivalries, the daily practice of diplomacy, and how local movements advocate for fundamental human rights. As a Research Associate at the Institute for Global Engagement, he is excited to explore the intersection of faith, human rights, and foreign policy. Translating his academic focus into practical advocacy, Evan will support IGE’s country programs, manage logistics, and assist with analytical research – ultimately contributing to IGE’s work in championing freedom of belief and building lasting relationships across divides.
