Tala Alnasser

Intern

Tala Alnasser is a Muslim student at Brigham Young University studying Public Relations and French and minoring in Sociology. Having served as the first Muslim Jordanian-Palestinian Executive VP of the BYU Student Body, her experience has placed religion at the forefront of her mind, allowing her to see the power of multi-faith and cross-cultural collaboration in creating mutually beneficial relationships while advancing social causes. She has lead campus-wide initiatives that foster inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and civic engagement—mobilizing over 100,000 in online reach and thousands in on-campus participation.

Her academic and professional experiences span mediations in the Utah courts, interfaith programming, and research on Middle Eastern inter-religious relations. She wishes to continue being a public servant, researching the intersection of law and religion and using her background in mediation, foreign languages, and cultural competencies as an active medium for brokering social trust amongst various religious groups, governments, and other members of the community

Tala’s passion lies in bridging divides through principled pluralism, particularly in regions where faith, politics, and diplomacy intersect. She hopes to contribute to the Institute for Global Engagement’s mission of advancing sustainable peace through religion and global affairs, while gaining mentorship in faith-informed diplomacy and strategic engagement.
