Abigail Zimmerman

Intern

Abigail Zimmerman is a Senior at Rice University double majoring in Social Policy Analysis and Religion, and minoring in Politics, Law and Social Thought. Her professional and academic pursuits have led her to develop a deep interest in the intersection of religion and public policy, especially through faith-based advocacy.

Abigail co-founded the Rice University chapter of Team ENOUGH, a youth-driven initiative against gun violence, and has spoken nationally on related issues. As Senior Warden of Autry House, the Episcopal campus ministry at Rice, she facilitates faith-based community engagement and service. She has also worked in the immigration and legal spaces, where she has witnessed firsthand the impacts foreign and domestic policy have on individuals.

Abigail was drawn to IGE because of its nuanced approach to international religious freedom and focus on relational diplomacy. She hopes to use her skills in communication, research and advocacy to advance IGE’s efforts, and is excited to gain valuable mentorship and education in the religious freedom space. Abigail plans to pursue a career in public policy after graduation.
