Hanoi, Vietnam: IGE and its Vietnam government partner, the Institute for Religion and Belief at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, have published a bilingual Vietnamese-English compendium of research papers on religious freedom. This is the third time that IGE and NAP have collaborated on a joint publication.

The compendium, titled Religious Freedom and Harmonious Society in Southeast Asia: Toward Covenantal Pluralism, introduces the concept of covenantal pluralism and features articles from experts and scholars examining its dynamics in the Southeast Asia region. Some of the topics addressed include:

  • Cultural Congruency and Covenantal Pluralism in the Lao PDR by Stephen Bailey
  • Buddhist Protectionism, Political Imaginaries of Belonging, and Prospects for Covenantal Pluralism in Myanmar by Alexander Horstmann
  • Regulating Pluralism: Laws on Religious Harmony and Possibilities for Robust Pluralism in Singapore by Jaclyn Neo

This publication will serve as a valuable addition to Vietnamese-language academic resources on religious freedom. IGE and NAP will be distributing 400 copies of this compendium at upcoming training programs for government officials and faith leaders in Vietnam.
