IGE met a delegation of high-level Vietnamese government cabinet officials to discuss the impact of religious freedom, nongovernmental organizations, and civil society development on Vietnam-U.S. bilateral relations.The delegation was led by Ambassador Ngo Quang Xuan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for Foreign Relations, and accompanied by staff members of the Vietnamese embassy in Washington, D.C.

The discussion also addressed IGE’s particular role in the bilateral relationship, as a nongovernmental organization, supporting people-to-people friendship between the people of the U.S. and Vietnam. Both sides expressed gratitude in being able to engage in candid discussion and develop mutual understanding. In addition, Dr. Chris Seiple, President of IGE, and Ambassador Ngo Quang Xuan exchanged their views on how IGE and the Vietnamese government can best continue working to improve bilateral relations through their unique partnership in the area of religious freedom.
