Hyeyeon Park
Intern
Hyeyeon is an intern for the Institute of Global Engagement and an undergraduate student at Pepperdine University, currently pursuing a B.S. in Psychology with a double minor in Industrial Organization and Social Work. During her studies, Hyeyeon has worked directly with students and faculty members to provide assistance and address concerns regarding financial aid at Pepperdine University’s Office of Financial Aid. She is an active member of her university’s Mock Trial team and the Intramural Sports team.
Prior to joining IGE, Hyeyeon gained experience in a variety of diverse sectors. During her time at Kamake’e Vistas in Honolulu, she developed a foundation in company operations, performing administrative tasks, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Her work with government-sponsored programs addressing low-income housing issues deepened her understanding of systemic challenges and strengthened her desire to advocate for social justice.
With a passion for fostering cross-cultural understanding and community development, Hyeyeon also served as an activities coordinator and peer mentor at the University of Hawaii-West Oahu’s international programs, where she helped students navigate cultural experiences and language barriers. Her work with international students inspired her to study abroad in London, England, where she explored history, art, and literature both in the classroom and at historical sites throughout the UK and Europe.
During the summer, Hyeyeon works for the Neurology Department at Samsung Medical Center and Jeongdaeun Clinic, where she has gained valuable experience in patient data analysis and has closely collaborated with medical professionals.
