The Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) is pleased to announce summer internship and year long fellowship opportunities with the generous support of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust’s Vision & Call program. This program seeks to cultivate the next generation of Christian leaders that are passionate about religious freedom, international affairs, and peacebuilding. Fellows and Interns will work in an agile and innovative NGO environment that engages foreign governments and civil society leaders, Capitol Hill, and the donor community. The program features a two-month training program on faith and leadership. Fellows and Interns will also join the Murdock Trust’s growing Vision & Call Network and have the opportunity to participate in a Vision & Call intern retreat in Yelm, Washington in the fall. These are paid positions based in Northern Virginia (just outside of Washington, DC), but there is also a substantial remote work component. Thus, the ideal candidate will possess self-discipline and initiative to thrive in this kind of work environment.

Creative Marketing Intern

IGE seeks self-motivated, highly creative individuals with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate. The ideal candidate has a passion for connecting with current and future partners and donors and a track record of SEO management, social media marketing, and content generation. The Creative Marketing Intern desires to integrate their faith commitment with vocation; possesses a strong interest in international affairs; is capable of working independently; pays attention to details; and adheres to deadlines and professional standards of excellence. This is a paid full-time, internship based in Northern Virginia open to both undergraduate and graduate applicants from related degree programs (e.g., Marketing, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Business, International Affairs, and Political Science).

This position will report to the Director for Strategic Partnerships and responsibilities include:

  • Growing IGE’s online presence and developing brand awareness
  • Planning and executing digital marketing and social media campaigns
  • Identifying trends and insights and optimizing strategy based on the insights
  • SEO (search engine optimization) and generation of inbound traffic
  • Documenting IGE activities through photography and videography

Outreach Coordinator Intern

IGE seeks self-motivated individuals with excellent time-management, interpersonal, administrative, and communication skills. The ideal candidate has a knack for event planning and is able to pre-emptively think through and address everything necessary to hold a successful event. The Outreach Coordinator intern desires to integrate their faith commitment with vocation; possesses a strong interest in international affairs; is capable of working independently; and pays attention to details and adheres to deadlines and professional standards of excellence. This is a paid, full-time internship based in Northern Virginia open to undergraduate applicants.

This position will report to the Director for Strategic Partnerships and responsibilities include:

  • Initiating and implementing a summer outreach event schedule for IGE;
  • Researching venues and opportunities to promote awareness of IGE's mission; 
  • Handling all outreach and communications with the point of contact for each prospective speaking engagement;
  • Setting up, attending, reporting, and following up after each event.

Program Assistant Intern

IGE seeks self-motivated individuals with excellent writing, interpersonal, and administrative skills. The ideal candidate desires to integrate their faith commitment with vocation; possesses a strong interest in international affairs; is capable of working independently; and pays attention to details and adheres to deadlines and professional standards of excellence. This is a paid, full-time summer internship based in Northern Virginia open to undergraduate students.

This position will report to the Vice President of Global Operations and responsibilities include:

  • Drafting and editing reports, correspondence, and grant proposals
  • Researching new funding opportunities
  • Providing logistical assistance for overseas trips and local events
  • Helping organize periodic meetings on Capitol Hill with government officials and NGO leaders
  • Attending and reporting on think tank and NGO events

Center for Women, Faith & Leadership Graduate Fellow

IGE seeks a Graduate Fellow for the Center for Women, Faith & Leadership (CWFL). The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual seeking professional experience in a dynamic non-profit setting. He/she should be committed to relational diplomacy, research, and education & leadership development initiatives. The Graduate Fellow for CWFL must possess excellent research and writing skills, independent work ability, a deep faith commitment, and a desire to live out that faith in the context of the broader global community. Candidates must enjoy strategic thinking, attention to detail, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. Graduate Fellows will be expected to work 20-30 hours per week, with additional hours worked during workshops to be held in May and November 2019.

This position will report to the CWFL Program Director, and responsibilities include:

  • Assist with CWFL’s program planning;
  • Write and edit funding proposals for CWFL;
  • Aid in online course content for CWFL;
  • Write and edit content produced by CWFL’s Fellows and Advisory Council members;
  • Attend relevant events and network on behalf of CWFL; and,
  • Complete other tasks as assigned, including administrative tasks and research.

Please note: Attendance of a Vision & Call 3-day internship retreat in Washington state during the Fall 2019 semester is mandatory and a requirement for acceptance into this program. Please ensure that your schedule will allow for this before you apply.
